True Intimacy

Whatever happened to truth and kindness

Is everyone caught in this utter blindness
Am I stupid, crazy, or just naive
For all mankind I wish to grieve.
Intimacy doesn't mean sneaky, or sly,
It's not under-handed, or built on lies.
True intimacy comes with respect and love,
Built over time, and blessed from above.
It's not heavy-breathing, sex, and skin,
It comes from your heart, deep within.
It's telling someone your hopes and dreams,
Not vicious lies, plots, and schemes.
It's equal parts of give and take,
Knowing your heart they will not break.
It's having a caring shoulder to cry on,
It's a sensitive soul and ears to rely on.
Treat others as you'd have them treat you,
It's really not all that hard to do.
Tell others you love them, tell them how much,
Start with a smile, kind word, or a touch.
It doesn't need to cost you a thing,
Just open your heart and let it sing.
Just be sure that whatever you do,
Comes straight from your heart, pure and true.
Let someone else know just how you feel,
Yet it won't mean a thing unless it's for real.
Keep that in mind, before you reply,
For truth builds trust, not a lie.
